Guide to Franschoek

REUBEN'S
The newest kid on the block grew up on these streets. Reuben Riffel made his mark at Monneaux before heading off to work at a Cambridge eatery. He's back, experienced, with his own signature restaurant, elegantly styled with dark wood tones and natural textures. His subtle touch with local ingredients is evident in cuisine inspired by his globetrotting adventures, paring dishes back to the basics to highlight flavour. Sophisticated fare in inspired combinations ? try salmon fish cakes, Szechwan pepper duck pie with rosemary mash, squid and chorizo risotto and duck vindaloo for size. Check out the cheeky Andy Warhol mural? Reuben's condensed tomato soup! Local and French wines are on offer.

LE BON VIVANT
This classy culinary act is one of Franschhoek's best-kept secrets. Hidden away from the busy main street, experienced chef-patrons Pierre Hendricks and Jessica Bos quietly do their own thing to the delight of regulars.
